MOBINCITY attracted international attention at EVS27

The 27th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS27) is one of the largest and the most international event for electric mobility.

MOBINCITY was presented by Technomar together with its sister project SMARTV2G at an own booth in the EVS Exhibition from 18th to 20th of November 2013. Many international visitors showed big interest in the possibilities of MOBINCITY.

One major driver for this interest is the growing number of EVs. In total today there are about 150 different models of electric vehicles worldwide available. But now serially-produced EVs will come to the market and with them all the challenges of charging a large number of vehicles at the same time. At the EVS27 the big car manufacturers presented their brand new vehicles. BMW launched its BMW i3 but also other players showed their EVs like Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen e-up! and Renault ZOE. But we were missing Tesla who surprised the experts with its powerful Model S at the eCarTec 2013 in Munich.

Another driver for smart charging solutions is the battery which is still the most limiting factor for electric mobility. Despite a massive decline of prices within the last years batteries are still too expensive and it takes too long to charge them. So all innovations are highly welcomed which help to optimize the driving range, which is one of the major features of MOBINCITY.

At EVS27 also other innovations at charging solutions were shown, like the wireless charging solution from Qualcomm or first DC charging stations that are compliant to the CCS charging protocols and using COMBO-2 plugs.
Also other partners from the MOBINCITY consortium where exhibiting their solutions at the EVS27 like ETREL who where presenting their design charging stations that are also used in the SMARTV2G project.
